Fri Oct 21st: Canyons - "see blind through" by Daniel Breterton and Cesca Dvorak

canyons - see blind through from daniel brereton on Vimeo.

The latest music video to come from the partner powerhouse of director Dan Has Potential and costume designer Cesca Dvorak is for a new Australian band "Canyons" on Modular. Despite being based in Sydney the band where filmed on location somewhat closer to home, especially if you are familiar with the Stone Cave restaurant in Dalston (quite the hot spot with Britney spotted outside Nandos over the way). The narrative features 15 intergalactic characters - an E.T, an alien, Smurf, yin+yang girls, honey collectors, giant legs, Hare Krishna, painted ladies..... all in the signature style of the creative crew I previously blogged for Cocknbullkid. This old house style tune with a disco discord and Arthur Russell esq guest vocals, sonically takes us back in time and visually transports us to another dimension! Here are Cesca's snaps on set from the shoot and the final edit video c/o Daniel.

Keep checking the schedule for the shop to see news of the next artist to take to the intimate stage............ and products appearing on the shelves including this crystal snow collected from one of Nick Knight's shoots.....

Patrick is about to embark on his 'Lupercalia' tour with support from Cocknbullkid.

Thurs Oct 20th: Swatch archive at Phillips de Pury "The Blum Collection"

Phillips de Pury

One of the most impressive complete collections of Swatch watches is touring a few cities before it is ultimately divided up at auction in Hong Kong next month. It's an incredible accumulation of more than 4,350 pieces comprising of a large number of original prototypes, hybrids and production variations never actually offered for sale. Many of the rare prototypes date from the development period just before the commercial release of the first Swatch watches in the early 1980s. I was really excited to see the comprehensive collection of Keith Haring designs which was poignant having spotted a Haring print sweater on the way to the gallery - his work is forever omnipresent in his absence. Another highlight was this Andrew Logan Jelly Fish style from 1985 which perfectly demonstrates the brand's awareness for collaborating with specialised and unique artists. Ive also photographed my obligatory fave rainbow and spectrum inspired designs from the catalog currently on show in London at Phillips de Pury. The showcase is on display until 25th October before being flown to Shanghai for the final leg of the tour, ending up in Hong Kong to go on sale on November 24th. If you are a Swatch enthusiast like myself, this is an unmissable opportunity to see so many designs all together under one roof ......... unless you are one of the few world collectors!

Weds 19th Oct: S/S12 Studio Prep

Exactly one month after my presentation and I'm finally free from the shackles of my studio working on the S/S collection, here is an insight into the insanity via a mix of imagery from the cabin-fever time ........ including skypes to Kim, prototypes, toiles, spraying speakers and a rare venture outside to meet with Patrick to plan the music.......

Tue 18th Oct: No Days Off "Répondez "

I'm on a constant recruit to fill my studio block with friends in an attempt to turn it into a commune of like-minded creative crusadors with the most recent resident to take root - design house "No Days Off". When I visited on Friday they showed me their latest print Répondez which has been produced on the team's own exclusive ‘Hatred’ paper stock made by Two Rivers Paper in Somerset. The recycled 300gsm stock was formed out of the pulp from the unused stationery accumulated at their old studio and gathered in the move. It’s off-white with a variant fleck in – possibly pieces of previous business cards in the mix. Here are photos from the print process by James at Tru Forme during the run of creating the edition of 25. The other images are my studio snaps of their enviably organised and beautiful surroundings ......... including an impressive vinyl collection and odd xylophone paper weights ........

You can buy one of the prints at the No Days Off online shop: http://www.nodaysoff.com
